A special THANK YOU to Barber’s Automotive for putting together our 5th annual golf tournament at Archie’s Chip and Putt on June 1st in order to raise money for our children’s programming. Jim, John, and Sandy Barber did an awful lot of work to organize golfers, prizes, signs, hole sponsors, and food. Our Chinese Auction included 53 baskets donated by our very generous community. Its success would not be possible without the support of Joe and Madonna Barber of the Bliss International Speedway and Theresa Cartwright of the Bliss Bar and Grill for allowing us to hold our auction at their businesses each year. Thank you to all of our donors and to all those who golfed in the tournament, purchased Chinese Auction tickets, or participated in our cash raffle. We are also grateful for the generous donations to our silent auctions of a barn quilt (donated by Heather Owens of “Quilts for the Barn” in Gainesville) and a gallon of Billy Olsowsky’s famous pickled sausage.
The golf tournament is an annual event, so if you happened to have missed it this year, watch for our notices next spring. Our planned golf date is Wednesday, June 7th with the Chinese Auction starting at the Bliss Bar and Grill on Friday, May 26th and moving to the Bliss International Speedway on Sunday, May 28th. We will move it downtown for the Memorial Day parade on May 29th before it heads to the golf tournament site on June 7th.
